Two Executive Promotions and New Team Member at Bankers’ Bank
Bankers’ Bank, a leading correspondent bank for community banks located in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana, announces two promotions and a new team member.
Matt Sitkowski – Bankers’ Bank recently promoted Matt Sitkowski as the new Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. As a member of the Executive Management team, he is responsible for building and executing strategies to grow the bank’s earnings and balance sheet as well as developing new products and services. Matt joined Bankers’ Bank in 2016 as the EVP & Chief Financial Officer. In his time with the bank, he has increased the bank’s capital through the direct sale of treasury and new issue common shares and led the successful issuance of subordinated debt to investors. Matt has successfully led teams to create three new overnight funding options for customers, provided oversite to the Payments & Cash Management team, allowing them to continually increase payment rail transaction and dollar volumes, and continues to push forward payments modernization initiatives including settlement with The Clearing House’s Real Time Payments Network.
Starting as a teller, Matt has had the opportunity to learn community banking from the ground up and this has been instrumental to the success of Bankers’ Bank and their customers. His belief in helping and supporting the people and businesses in a local community with their financial needs is what drives him to be successful in his position.
Michelle Waldron – Michelle Waldron has been promoted to Senior Vice President &Chief Financial Officer at Bankers’ Bank. As CFO, Michelle is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to help the Bank continue to grow. She has been with Bankers’ Bank for 8 years, starting out as an Internal Audit Officer where she helped build the Bank’s audit function. Michelle moved to the Finance department in 2017 as the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis where she worked with the CFO to build and enhance the budgeting process, financial modeling and forecasting, and the Bank’s cash management product. In 2019, she was promoted again to FVP, Accounting & Finance and assumed oversight of the accounting function in addition to her finance role.
Michelle is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Bachelor of Business Administration – Accounting and a Masters of Accountancy. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. She is looking forward to helping Bankers’ Bank grow and offer unique solutions that support community banks and help them thrive well into the future.

Steve Klitzing – Bankers’ Bank is excited to welcome Steve Klitzing as Senior Vice President, Risk Management Solutions. In his new role, Steve will be responsible for leading the bank’s new Risk Management Solutions division in creating and developing solutions to help community banks build an enterprise risk management culture in their organizations. Steve has nearly 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a vast majority of his career in community banking in Wisconsin and Illinois. Prior to joining Bankers’ Bank, Steve was the Chief Financial Officer at People’s Bank in Elkhorn, Wisconsin and was with CIB Marine Bancshares in Pewaukee for over 20 years holding various senior and executive level positions, ending as Executive VP, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. During his time with CIB Marine, Steve helped the organization grow from a single bank location with assets of $9 million to a multi-bank/multi-state holding company with over $3.5 billion in assets. Throughout his career, Steve has been involved in many areas of banking, including asset and liability management, risk management, financial reporting and analysis, regulatory relations, investments, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, capital planning and management, business expansion, retail operations and investor relations.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science, Finance from the University of Illinois. He is excited to lead this new team and work with community banks throughout the Midwest to implement risk management solutions in their organizations.
