Bankers’ Bank Awards a $21,000 Grant to Maydm

Madison, WI – Bankers’ Bank, a leading correspondent bank for community banks located in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana, is proud to announce it secured a $21,000 gift for Maydm through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Targeted Impact Fund and a matching donation from Bankers’ Bank.

Bankers’ Bank is strongly committed to supporting their customers and communities, especially during challenging times. Through the Targeted Impact Fund program, supported by Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, they are able to provide much needed financial support to Maydm during this coronavirus pandemic. Maydm provides girls and youth of color in grades 6-12 with skill-based training for the technology sector. The $21,000 gift will help Maydm continue to focus on its holistic approach, preparing students from traditionally underrepresented populations to engage in and revolutionize the tech industries.

Brad Stamper, President and CEO of Bankers’ Bank said, “the work Maydm does to provide STEM training to underrepresented youth in the community is admirable. Bankers’ Bank is proud to support their mission especially during this challenging time.”

The Bank recognizes the impact Maydm has in the community and wants to ensure they have the necessary resources to continue to provide access to STEM training for girls and youth of color in the community.

“We are thrilled with this grant award and that Bankers Bank recognizes the value of Maydm’s programming,” said Maydm Founder and Executive Director Winnie Karanja in a statement. “Maydm offers immersive out-of-school programs and workshops where students in grades 6-12 build the skill set to pursue exciting career opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), creating a diverse workforce pipeline in Dane County. Our programs and workshops integrate technical skills, problem solving, design thinking, innovation, and teamwork to promote our students’ personal, academic, and professional growth. Maydm empowers students to develop high wage skills for a successful future. We are excited to partner with Bankers Bank and look forward to launching our student internship program in 2021.”
